not only the older generation? who call themselves Chinese , people who came
to Taiwan after 1949 due to an their China’s civil war will have stronger Chinese
identity just like some Chinese people in South East Asia .If they were moving
to Vietnam for decades you wouldn’t call Vietnamese as Chinese . And not many
people know that more than 88% of Taiwanese are ethnically Austronesian but
since Taiwanese are a mix race so we call ourselves Taiwanese.
