An all new Winnie the Pooh movie hits theaters in 2011, but will it be the last 2D animated film from Disney Animation? Next up for Disney is Wreck It Ralph, another computer animated movie that is said to be the Toy Story of video games! Will CGI Animation mean the end of hand drawn animation and stop motion animation? And will audiences be interested in seeing The Lion King in 3D? Wait im a teen and I prefer the hand drawn movies from disney from the computer animated ones (excluding tangled and pixar movies but putting in cars 2) and the same could be said to my 17 almost 18 sister and also my parents. Also most of my friends are the same thing. Hummmm, I wonder what your point is but I would like for 2D animation with the disney feel to be more in the screen but yes a little darker and adult 2D cartoon should not be half bad, although? disney is not good at those stories

  2. I feel like CGI is cheating in a way. I mean, compared to stop motion, it’s very similar, but you don’t have to draw every single frame, and there’s no chance of accidentally smudging the model and have to rebuild it.
    2D deserves alot of respect.

    There is nothing like the old Disney or Don Bluth films with the? dark stories and happy endings. That’s what new age 2D stories are missing, the danger, the death, the real ‘oh shit’ factor that brings a movie to life.

  3. I brought up the topic of hand drawn vs CGI to a teacher of mine and she brought up a very interesting analogy. She compared the two to? two different batches of cookies, with one being homemade and the other being factory made. Both may taste good, but at the end of the day theres just something about homemade (ie hand drawn animation) that factory made (ie CGI) just cant capture

  5. 2D, 3D and stopmo are just tools. i don’t think studios should limit themselves to any one of them as all of them have interesting possibilities, and they suit different? purposes.

  6. it’s? all about the story. i think the princess and the frog wouldn’t have succeeded in 3D either – pixar’s classics are so good because the stories are so tight.
    i think it doesn’t matter what format your film is in. disney shouldn’t be making a 2D movie for the sake of making a 2D movie. directors should be asking themselves “what would 2D animation bring to my story? what would be the most effective ways of telling my story?”

  7. 2D is not dead it’s just disney knew after pocahontas(good box office, bad reviews) that they can never match the lion kings success and with dreamworks and pixar they decided it would be better to go with the crowd rather than stay original however there films from 2000-2008 besides lilo & stich (and ugh bolt>:l)? were the only box offce hits and so they returned to musicals and 2D and 3D films which have done well so 2D is not dead and if they combine it with other styes it can make a come back

  8. People still like hand-drawn animation but the Princess and the Frog didn’t do so well because it was trying to please everybody. If Disney pulls? out a good hand-drawn animated film then things will change.

  9. Sorry industry executives, I know from experience that kids don’t prefer CGI considering the success of Lion King 3D.? They just want to see films they know about and? that have good marketing. And as of April 25th, Disney is officially working on a new hand-drawn film. Disney was never thinking of Winnie The Pooh being “the last hand-drawn film,” they knew from the start that this wouldn’t make that much money. So stop being so skeptical and face the fact that the art form will NEVER die.

  11. All the Tradional cartoons od Disney Animations really warmed everyone heart i still watch it today, i would like? it if they keep a balance with it new pixar type movie and even new 2d picture film like Winnie The Pooh because the new was charming and funny just like The Tigger Movie

  13. I don’t think that people care which version of animation they see. It depends on the storyline. Pixar is shooting out 3D movies with great storyline while Disney hasn’t really been making many 2D movies at recently. Disney needs to at least try a few things and maybe try a more adult? storyline while keeping it good for kids like “The Black Cauldron”

  15. It’s not the animation. The storyline they came up with for Princess and the Frog was awful! There’s so many things I hated about the story,? but the animation was lovely. If it has a good story, people will love it.

  18. i know ever video theres atleast one comment saying somthing? about how many dislikes there are. but this cartoon looks awesome i live in a small town so it never came to our theatre but i watch it on “cartoons free us”…
