A kinetic typography music video for Jonathan Coulton’s Shop Vac. This was created using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere and Toon Boom Animate. I worked on this sporadically, so it’s difficult to estimate how much time went into it. Somewhere between 500-1000 hours, but it was a labor of love. The robots aren’t supposed to symbolize the countries population.
They are supposed to symbolize the countries performance in the wars. See that the Japanese robot is built with technology and refurbished. The American robot looks a little less refurbished but, as you can clearly see, has better fighting skills.

The aesthetics of these robots are definitely reversed. The smaller, smoother, lighter model says Japanese sci-fi, mecha, and real-life robotics. The elephant sized Master Chief Halo evolution says American.
